About Us

Maglev NET launched in 2008 out of genuine interest in magnetic levitation technology and the trains built around it. The site covers infrastructure projects, engineering developments, and the slow but steady progress toward making long-distance maglev a reality. The only high-speed commercial maglev line in operation today is the Shanghai Airport Maglev, running since 2004 between Pudong International Airport and a metro station – 30 km, 431 km/h, and still the only one of its kind after twenty years. The biggest project we follow is Japan’s Chuo Shinkansen, which is set to become the first high-speed, long-distance maglev line in the world, connecting Tokyo and Nagoya at up to 505 km/h. We also cover consumer maglev products – levitating speakers, globes, display stands – for anyone who wants a piece of the technology at home.
